Expansion and Transformation of Production Site in Northeast England Completed

STRABAG UK, a subsidiary of the European construction services technology conglomerate STRABAG SE, has officially inaugurated its state-of-the-art precast concrete plant in Hartlepool, Northeast England. This facility marks the beginning of high-precision, automated production of tunnel segments (tunnels) for the groundbreaking HS2 high-speed rail project connecting London to the West Midlands. The endeavor not only boosts local employment but also contributes to sustainability efforts by reducing material consumption and carbon emissions.

Key Highlights:

This news showcases STRABAG UK's significant contribution to the construction of the HS2 railway system, underlining the company's commitment to sustainability, advanced technology, and long-term investment in the United Kingdom. It emphasizes the positive economic and environmental impact of the new facility in Hartlepool.

  • This is exciting day for our UK operations: Together with our facility in Wilton for the Woodsmith Mine project, STRABAG now has a firm foothold not only in the North East of England, but throughout the UK. By having direct access to the rail network, we can massively reduce the number of HGV journeys by road. We are thus creating a more sustainable solution for transporting the segments to our London tunnel boring machines for HS2, which in turn leads to a reduction in our carbon footprint.
