STRABAG in Chile: New order in the mining business and successful completion of further wind farm foundations

Great news for the STRABAG Group in Chile: Group company ZÜBLIN SpA has been awarded a further contract by Codelco in "El Teniente" - the largest underground mine in the world - with a contract value of around € 80 million.

STRABAG expands Light Rail Transit (LRT) line in Canada for approx. € 175 million

The Canadian subsidiary of the listed construction group STRABAG has been awarded the contract for the design and construction of the eastern underground section of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension, a 9.2 km extension of the future Eglinton Crosstown LRT line with seven stops. The project will create a continuous rapid transit line that will run from the east of Toronto through the city center to the west to the neighboring community of Mississauga. The contract, worth approximately € 175 million (CAD 255 million), will be executed under a design-build-finance model. The main construction work is expected to begin in 2024.

120 meters long and weighing 1,200 tons: U2 tunnel boring machine arrives in Vienna

From the fall, the tunnel boring machine (TBM) will be used to build the new U2 tunnels between Matzleinsdorfer Platz and Augustinplatz in Vienna. The factory acceptance of the TBM by Wiener Linien, STRABAG and Porr marks an important step in the expansion of the U2xU5. The TBM will work through around 4 kilometers of Vienna's underground after the station shafts and emergency exits have been completed.

The honor was bestowed upon during a ceremony hosted by the UAE Society of Engineers at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, where Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Supreme President of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, recognized the winners.

World tunnelling record: STRABAG breaks 25.8 kilometre mark in single TBM drive at the Woodsmith project in England

In June 2019, STRABAG’s tunnelling specialists began excavating a 37 km tunnel beneath the North York Moors National Park with a Herrenknecht tunnel boring machine (TBM). Now the project team has a very special reason to celebrate: the tunnel drive for the Woodsmith mine near Whitby in the north-east of England has reached the 25.8 kilometre mark, setting a new world record for the longest single tunnel boring machine drive. The 1,775-tonne machine with a diameter of 6 metres, named Stella-Rose, has been boring underground for around four and a half years.

Mukran: Ed. Zublin AG announces the completion of the Shore Crossing Microtunnel for the OAL - Ostsee Anbindungsleitung, Project in Germany.

The Shore Crossing is required to connect an approximately 50-kilometre-long pipeline that will run from the planned LNG terminal in the port of Mukran to the German gas pipeline network in Lubmin. This project in Lubmin has been successfully completed by our multi-national Team earlier this year.

STRABAG UK Launches High-Tech Precast Concrete Plant for Tunnel Segments in Hartlepool

STRABAG UK has opened its precast concrete plant in Hartlepool, North East England. This plant will produce high precision tunnel segments for the HS2 high speed rail project linking London to the West Midlands. The plant will boost employment and support sustainability efforts by reducing material consumption and carbon emissions.
