Design and Build for the Seero Fi Al Ardh Carousel
Qatar
The Design & Build Works for the Seero Fi Al Ardh Carousel (Art Carousel) is a turnkey project housing a carousel and incorporating works by the late artist Maqbool Al Hussain. The building envelope of the 46 m diameter circular carousel pavilion, with a total building height of 12 m, can be categorised into the components façade and roof. The glazed façade consists mainly of six single curved glazed modules (size approx. 8 m x 12 m) weighing approx. 13 tonnes each and three fixed curved glazed modules. The roof consists of four different roof systems mainly being a fully glazed system, glazed and micro perforated metal sheet system and metal sheet and aluminium sheet system. The envelope itself is supported by a structural steel system. The Art Carousel’s kinematic mechanism is housed in a basement structure sitting under the pavilion building. Incorporated in the project scope is the surrounding landscape including water features, access roads and surface car parking as well as the installation of a SCADA system.
