STRABAG has been pursuing the vision of the digital construction site since the late 1990s. Over time, BIM has been further developed in the company under the name BIM 5D® and is now being successfully implemented in various projects. In simplified terms, 5D stands for the 3D model, linked with information on time (4D) and cost factors (5D).

Throughout the entire project cycle, all relevant data is digitally captured, combined and networked. The aim is to create added value for everyone involved. By optimising coordination and the exchange of information, both transparency and efficiency – and ultimately quality – are increased. This is because information gaps and conflicts can already be identified in the planning stage, which helps to avoid expensive construction errors.
