Wadi Minqal & Wadi Bani Jaber Asphalt Road
Oman
The Ministry of Transport and Communications commissioned STRABAG Oman to upgrade existing track roads in Wadi Minqal and Wadi Bani Jaber in the Wilayat Sur. The challenge was that the existing roads had an extreme gradient of up to 25% and led through extreme mountain terrain. The existing track roads were to be realigned and upgraded to asphalt roads. The contract also provided for the construction of drainage systems, the erection of concrete and steel safety barriers and the introduction of traffic signs and road markings. A steel truss arch bridge with a main span of 160 m was also built over the Wadis Addah-Sinaf.
