Thiba Dam
Kenya
The Thiba Dam in Kenya was planned to secure the year-round water supply for the country’s agricultural sector. The 40 m tall and 1 km long dam about 130 km northeast of the Kenyan capital of Nairobi created a reservoir to allow a second harvest every year in the surrounding cultivable area.
The contract value of approximately € 72 million also included the connection to the existing road network as well as facilities for water draw-off and safe floodwater drainage. The construction of the project started in March 2018 and was scheduled to last around 45 months.
