Ostsee LNG Pipeline - Trenchless Shore Crossing, Germany

STRABAG’s most recent project is the construction of the 1.1km long shore crossings for the Liquid Natural Gas under water supply pipeline (DN 2000 mm) from Mukran and Lubmin respectively into the Baltic Sea.
 
The project is being undertaken in challenging weather and sea conditions and involved the following methods of construction:

  • Hard rock tunnelling
  • Underwater excavation of the seabed for microtunneling receivel after drive
  • Use of barge mounted crane to retrieve tunnelling machine
  • Team of professional specialist divers accredited to the German Diving work

The scope of works includes the following details:

  • Site preparation
  • Entry pit
  • Microtunnelling
  • Winch mobilization & demobilization
  • Operation of winch and installation of gas pipeline (Client)
  • Off-shore recovery of TBM and transport to on-shore location (Client)
  • Tunnel grouting
  • routing of void between gas pipeline and concrete pipe
