Nord Stream 2 Trenchless Shore Crossing, Germany

Construction of trenchless shore crossing diameter 2000mm, 700m length by pipe jacking method.

The project is located in the North-East of Germany and involves construction of 2 shore crossing micro-tunnels by pipe jacking method for Nordstream 2 gas pipeline, 2 x 700 m in DN 2000, as reinforced concrete sleeve pipe for the later insertion of the gas line pipes with a diameter of 1,200 mm. The pipe strings run parallel at an axial distance of 10-16m and are driven simultaneously by 2 TBMs.

Working in the environmentally sensitive coastal area of the Greifswalder Bodden.

The location of the project is classified by its marine environment. The geological conditions consisted of sand and clay with glacial boulders of rocks in the intermediate zone in between. Ground water pressure of up to 1 bar.
