Duqm Port Roadworks & Infrastructure

The scope of road works included all earthworks, trimming, preparation of surfaces, ground improvements (including provision of geotextile membranes), laying of pavement structure (comprising granular sub-base, aggregate road base, bituminous base course, bituminous wearing course), kerbing, safety barrier and traffic control (markings, signs) according to Omani standards.

  • Single carriageway (one lane in each direction) 6.5 km

The scope of infrastructure works comprised the following: potable water network, firefighting network, storm water network, sewer network, irrigation, street lighting.
 
Al Duqm Port & Drydock has become one of the major ports in the region thanks to its strategic location on the Arabian Sea between the Muscat port and the Salalah port. The port is also equipped with a ship repair yard and drydock facility, the first of its kind in Oman.
 
The $2.6 billion Duqm Port started operation by mid-2012. It is equipped with a more than 3,000-metre-long berth.
