Al Shaqab Equine Veterinary Medical Center

Al Shaqab Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC) was a shell and core building in need of fit-out works. The building, located at QF Campus, was handed over in November 2011 as the design could not be completed without guidance from the end user / operator. As the facility was pre-designed in 2006, the newly commissioned operator, upon review of the existing installation and available design documentation, recommended further changes in the facility to accommodate the operational needs of Al Shaqab based on current requirements.
 
The works comprised the verification of the existing facilities, the design for the required fit-out works, demolition and alteration, structural modifications, finishing works, door and window replacements, metal works, modification and upgrading of the existing mechanical and electrical systems to include installation of medical gas systems, and coordination of the supply and installation of the medical equipment.
 
The medical centre, with a gross floor area of 9,800 m², consists of a hospital block, laboratory block, breeding barn, quarantine barn and isolation barn. The Al Shaqab Equine Veterinary Medical Center provides national and international leadership in equine veterinary clinical and diagnostic services, research and education of veterinarians, students and the public with regards to the health and wellbeing of horses.
