Southern seawater alliance desalination plant - shore crossing

Australia

The Southern Seawater Desalination Plant (SSDP) is located near Binningup in Western Australia. It was designed and constructed for the Water Corporation by The Southern Seawater Alliance (SSWA). SSWA contracted ZÜBLIN to provide underground Shore Crossing tunneling solutions for the Southern Seawater Alliance during the construction phase of the Desalination Plant. ZÜBLIN was selected based on its extensive international tunneling experience and also considering its previous involvement in a project undertaken for the Water Corporation.

Winners: tunnelling project of the year 2011:
On December 2011 ZÜBLIN Australia was presented ‘Tunnelling Project of the Year 2011’ Award for its tunnelling work undertaken on behalf of the Water Corporation of Western Australia at the International Awards ceremony. Held at the Conrad Hotel in Hong Kong, the ceremony was attended by over 250 of the world’s leading figures in the tunnelling industry. This is the second major award for the same project after winning the CCF Earth Award in WA in 2011.
