New Doha International Airport – Duty Free Warehouse Facilities

Qatar

Development of a duty-free warehouse on behalf of Qatar Duty Free and an in-flight duty-free store for Qatar Airways. These two buildings are known as the Duty Free Warehouse Facilities.

The brief required that the warehouse development was sized to cater for 24 million passengers in Phase 1, with the capacity for projected growth to 48 million passengers by the year 2015 in Phase 2.

The Duty Free Warehouse has an approximate footprint of 11,250 m² (excluding smaller annex buildings), consisting of a structural steel framed structure on in-situ concrete foundations with steel composite mezzanine floors and proprietary roofing and cladding systems, is intended to house a variety of goods for Qatar Duty Free prior to distribution to the apron buffer stores located on the ground floor of the main terminal building. The buffer stores serve the various duty-free shops in the terminal.

The in-flight duty-free store has an approximate footprint of 2000 m² (excluding certain annex buildings) and is a ground floor warehouse storing in-flight products to be sold on aircraft. The size of both facilities has been safeguarded for future expansion, if required, as the airport develops.
