Link Sewers for DTSS Phase 2 Project
The Deep Tunnel Sewerage System (DTSS) is a massive underground superhighway for Singapore’s used water management. It is a cost-efficient and sustainable solution designed to meet Singapore’s long-term needs for used water collection, treatment, reclamation, and discharge. The DTSS comprises a 206 km-long network of deep tunnels that convey used water entirely by gravity to three centralized water reclamation plants in Singapore. The treated water is then reclaimed and further purified into NEWater, with excess effluent discharged into the sea in an environmentally responsible manner. Designed to last for 100 years, the DTSS exemplifies long-term water infrastructure planning and investment to benefit multiple generations. The DTSS Phase 2 consists of 40 km of deep tunnels and 47 km of link sewers, creating an interconnected network that channels used water by gravity to the Tuas Water Treatment Plant. Zublin has been awarded three (3) link sewer contracts for Phase 2, total 14.6km in length, which is approx. 31% of the whole DTSS link sewer scheme.
Project Highlights
- 99 temporary shafts up to depth 50.8m
- Construction of total 14.6km of sewer pipelines by using pipe jacking method
- Construction of 91 number of permanent manholes including a flow diversion chamber and a vortex drop structure
