Supporting urban expansion with integrated bridge solutions
Sultan Haitham City is Oman’s current major project and one of the country’s most ambitious urban developments. The new city is being implemented in four phases, with the first phase scheduled for completion in 2030. For this flagship project, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning awarded STRABAG Oman the contract to construct four box girder bridges and a multi-cell culvert.
The four bridges have a total span of 635 metres and a width of 40 metres. Each structure features two traffic lanes in both directions, side parking areas, bicycle lanes and pedestrian paths. In addition, the bridges are designed to carry utilities across water channel, creating an infrastructure solution for the futuristic and modern city.
This project is currently underway. STRABAG Oman was awarded to carry out the ground preparation works for the emerging urban centre.
