On 21.12.2023, the City of Munich commissioned the bidding consortium Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG / Ed. Züblin AG / Max Bögl Stiftung & Co. KG with the construction of the extension of the subway line 5-West construction lot 2 from Laim to Pasing.

The extension of the U-5 from Laim to the Pasing station junction is an important step in the expansion of public transport in Munich. The 2,690 m long construction lot begins west of the new Willibaldstraße subway station with a starting shaft, runs via the new Am Knie subway station and ends with a parking area west of the new Pasing subway station.

The work comprises the construction of a new subway tunnel including a starting shaft and the construction of two new subway stations, Am Knie station and Pasing station, with the associated line tunnels. The construction area is located in the city center in a densely built-up area. The line tunnel sections are being constructed using a closed construction method with shield machines in segmental construction and a bore diameter of approx. 7.75 meters. The two stations are being built using the bored pile and diaphragm wall construction methods. Extensive special civil engineering and dewatering measures are also part of the overall contract, as are 3 inner-city emergency exit structures, construction of the slab track with a heavy mass-spring system and track construction work, etc.

The construction period is 96 months and the start of construction is 01.03.2024.
